Marien uses bunkai from Kusanku.

Fred conditioning edge of hand
the same way Tatsuo Shimabuku did

This is the way Tatsuo Shimabuku conditioned the edge of his hand.  Striking the edge of a tapered 2x4 with the edge of his hand to be so callused that he could put out a lit cigarette on it. He would strike the 2x4 for about 30 minutes a day. I observed Tatsuo driving a 16 D common nail through a 2X4 with the edge of his hand. On another occasion saw him drive a 16 D common nail through a 2x4 with the heel of his bare foot. AJ
